OverDrive Automates Download Audio Book Collection for Libraries

Ebooks Library: OverDrive announced its Download Standing Order Plan, which enables libraries to automatically add frontlist audio books from several popular publishers on or before their release dates. OverDrive, a provider of download media to libraries with 75,000 audio book, eBook, music, and video titles and 5,000 library partners worldwide, made the Download Standing Order Plan available earlier this week.

Libraries that participate can ensure that their digital media collections include the latest frontlist releases without spending time each week researching new titles. Libraries select a desired amount of titles from publishers of their choice to be automatically added to their collection monthly.

8 New Korean Society Journals To Join Springer Portfolio

Digital Ebook: Springer, one of the world's leading STM publishers, has signed publishing agreements with eight South Korean scientific societies during the past half year. With this move, Springer will be the publisher of a representative selection of Korean society journals and confirms its long tradition of dedication to publishing the increasing amount of research coming from Asia.

Agreements to start publishing their journals in 2008 were signed with the Korean Society of Civil Engineers, the Korean Society of Mechanical Engineers, the Korean Fiber Society, the Korean Society of Automotive Engineers, the Pharmaceutical Society of Korea, the Korean Society for Biotechnology and Bioengineering, the Korean Society of Medical Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and the Microbiological Society of Korea. Harry Potter Set to Transfigure to Digital

Ebook Publishing: Harry Potter and his wizarding chums may be about to make a digital publishing leap. Online bookseller Amazon has plans to unveil a wireless electronic book reader, a kind of literary iPod, which already has UK publishers scrambling to digitize their entire range of titles. The device, which sources claim could be launched as early as next month, would follow the recent U.S. launch of the Sony eBook Reader, a machine the size of a hardback that stores digital copies of up to 80 books and lasts 7,500 pages on a single charge.
