However, whether you are aware of this or not, you should at least understand that SEO is vital to the success and survival of any online business. Without having your website optimized to compliment what Google looks for in a website to reward it with a good position on the search engine, your business is likely to fail as it wont be as visible as it ought to be to gain optimal traffic.

After all, if people cant find your website because its buried beneath thousands of other websites that arent optimized to compliment Googles liking, then where do you think these people are going to go when theyre looking for a product or service that youre selling? Theyre going to go to those websites that are optimized to Googles liking because their going to be more visible. In other words, theyre going to go to your competition, and you will be left behind. Actually, you wont even be left behind because they wont even know that you exist!

Now, if you want to avoid this, then you really need to take the time to educate yourself on SEO. But heres my word of caution to you. A lot of information about SEO tactics can be obtained in the form of a free downloadable ebook, and can even be purchased for very little money at places such as eBay. In fact, some of these ebooks are being sold merely for pennies on the dollar!

Be careful! You might think that youve gotten a good deal because you paid a dollar for a 50 page ebook on SEO, which may have been sold for a lot of money in the past; but theres a reason why these ebooks are being sold for so little now, just as theres a reason why people are giving them away for free. For the most part, its because most of them contain information about SEO thats actually outdated, and is therefore no longer effective.

And in some cases if you do what they tell you to do you may even end up being penalized for it by Google, as they no longer look upon such tactics favorably, but rather negatively. So when you think youve gotten a good deal because you paid a $1.00 for one of these ebooks, it could very well be possible that you purchased information that if applied, could very well do more harm to your website than good.

Now thats not to say that everything in these ebooks is worthless, nor does it mean that just because one of these ebooks is being given away for free, that that means it is worthless, or contains bad information. Often people give stuff away for free to gain future prospects, or as a bonus to encourage people to purchase a product of theirs. So you can still find a lot of good ideas in these ebooks. And free doesnt always = less value.

However, you really have to take great caution in what you choose to implement for your business when it comes to SEO, because you very well may end up following instructions that could get your website banned, or severely penalized in terms of its ranking.

My question to you is: is it really worth the risk to find out what still works in these SEO ebooks? I dont think so, because even if you dont get penalized by Google, what youve done may have been useless because it no longer has any appeal to what Google is looking for in a website. What this then means is that you wasted valuable time doing something that didnt even help you at all. When it comes to building a business time is of the essence. Thus the more time you waste the further you will fall behind your competition.

And By the way, dont be fooled by the idea that just because youve managed to gain a good position on the search by following some of the so-called SEO secrets that can be found in these ebooks, that that means youre in the safe zone. It could very well mean that Google hasnt caught on to whats happening just yet. But they will in due time. And if Google sees that youve done something with your website that isnt acceptable you will pay a lofty price for it!

So my advice to you is to keep yourself informed about whats happening when it comes to SEO. Even if that means youll have to continue to purchase information concerning SEO as new stuff comes out, it would be well worth the investment. Remember, youre building a business. It takes money to do that. And if you do it right, any money that youve invested in your business to purchase information that is designed to help it to become successful, would be money well-spent as it will come back to you ten-fold!
